AMARILLO, Texas – Junior
Alex Darwin led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team on Tuesday at the West Texas A&M Lady Buff Stampede Invitational with a 23
rd overall finish.
Darwin shot a two-round 158 (81, 77) as UCCS moved up two spots in the final round to finish eighth out of 18 teams at the La Paloma Course at Tascosa Country Club.
Raquell Castillo was tied for 30
th with a score of 161 (83, 78) as teammate
Megan Vernon finished one stroke back with a 162 (83, 79).
The Mountain Lions shot a 649 (332, 317) and were just five strokes back from Texas A&M-Commerce, who finished in seventh place. UCCS was the top team from the RMAC as MSU Denver place 10
th, CSU-Pueblo took 12
th, and Adams State placed 17
th.
St. Mary's was the top team in the tournament as they scored a 611 (315, 296) as Redlands C.C.'s top player, Emily Coleman took medalist honors with a low score of 147 (71, 76).
UCCS travels to Alamosa on Oct. 10-11 as they will participate in the Adams State Invitational at the Cattails Golf Club.
