GOLDEN, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore
David Kimaiyo won the 3,000-meter run with the only performance faster than nine minutes to lead the Mountain Lions at the Colorado Mines Twilight today at Steinhauer Fieldhouse. Kimaiyo's raw time of 8 minutes, 59.39 seconds will adjust down to 8:34.47 for track size and altitude.
Kimaiyo was less than nine seconds away from the NCAA provisional qualifying mark and won by more than a second against the runner-up from Mines.
Seth Polich finished ninth and
Jarrett Eller placed No. 10 with unadjusted times of 9:27.82 and 9:82.82, respectively, in the field of 30 finishers.
Willie Moore placed second in his heat and No. 19 overall in 9:44.67, William Meecham was fourth in his heat and No. 21 with 9:44.67, and
Forrest Hough rounded out the group of Mountain Lions in the 3K with 10:01.24.
Travis Anderson won his heat of the 800-meter run in 2:04.86 and placed No. 13 overall. His time converted to 2:01.25 and is No. 16 in the RMAC performance lists.
Nick Lehmann finished second in his heat with 2:17.11, which will adjust down to 2:13.16.
UCCS will be back at Colorado Mines next weekend for the Division II Invitational on Jan. 29-30.
