AURORA, Colo. –
Megan Vernon recorded an 84 for 12-over-par in today's round and led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a two-round score of 167 as the Mountain Lions finished competition in the Division II National Preview today at CommonGround Golf Course. UCCS placed No. 20 in the field with a 674 two-round score for 98-over-par.
Vernon was 2-under on holes one through five and led UCCS in her first collegiate tournament as a member of the scoring team. She finished the tournament with 23-over-par and cut 12 strokes off of her performance at CSU-Pueblo when she played only in the individual competition. Vernon tied for No. 78 in the overall standings this week.
Raquell Castillo matched Vernon's score today and improved by one stroke from Monday's round.
Alex Darwin and
Forre Zook both turned in scorecards of 86 for 14-over-par to round out the Mountain Lion team score of 380 for 52-over-par.
UCCS will close out the fall season in two weeks with the RMAC South event Oct. 12-13 at the University of New Mexico Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M.
