Culver Adds Van Pelt to 2015 Signing Class

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs Jeff Culver is pleased to announce the addition of Ryan Van Pelt to the 2015 signing class. Van Pelt signed a financial aid agreement and will transfer from Division I Weber State as a sophomore for the 2015-16 season.

"We are excited to add Ryan to our program," Culver said. "He immediately adds depth to our front line with his size and experience. Ryan also excels in the classroom and will fit in well with our existing squad."

Van Pelt played in two games last season for the Wildcats against Presentation and Bristol. He took two seasons off for a mission trip to Chile and used his redshirt season in 2011-12. He will be eligible to play immediately for the Mountain Lions.

Van Pelt graduated from Timpanogos High School in Lindon, Utah, where was a Desert News Honorable Mention 4A All-State student-athlete. He averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per game and was a First Team All-Conference and All-Valley selection for the Timberwolves.

Van Pelt joins Ed Bourke, Blend Avdili, Chris Moody and Elijah Ross as members of the 2015 signing class for the Mountain Lions. UCCS will begin next season as the defending RMAC Tournament champions. The Mountain Lions reached the second round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament, were ranked as high as No. 2 in the national polls and set a program record with 27 victories.
