AVONDALE, Ariz. –
Amanda Crites led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with an 80 in today's second round as the Mountain Lions finished seventh in the 2015 RMAC Championships at the Coldwater Golf Club. The tournament was the best team performance of the spring season and marked the end of the 2014-15 season for UCCS in the program's second season.
Crites turned in her best tournament score of her career with a 159 for 15-over par after yesterday's 79. It was six strokes over her career-best and seven strokes better than her season-best from the UCCS Invitational. She finished in a tie for No. 21 overall and one stroke behind teammate
Alex Darwin's 158. Darwin had the second-best score for the Mountain Lions today with an 82.
Raquell Castillo and
Jamie Zook both recorded rounds of 83 today as UCCS finished with a team score of 328. Castillo edged out Zook in the tournament scores with a 164 after an 81 yesterday to tie for No. 31. Zook finished with a 165 in her best tournament of the spring season by six strokes.Â
UCCS recorded a tournament score of 646 for its best tournament of the spring season by 29 strokes. The Mountain Lions recorded two of the top nine rounds in program history this week with a 318 yesterday and a 328 today.
The Mountain Lions improved its team scoring average by 9.5 strokes from last season and recorded the top six team rounds and the top nine individual rounds in program history.
Michelle Romano shot the first under-par round of the program with a 71 in the fall season before a knee injury in the offseason sidelined her in the spring.
