Travis Anderson ran the fastest 800-meter time for a Mountain Lion this season as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs started the weekend at the California State-Los Angeles Twilight Open tonight at Jesse Owens Stadium. Anderson ran 1 minute, 55.27 seconds in a third-place finish today.
Anderson came within three seconds of an NCAA provisional qualifying time and led three Mountain Lions who finished in the top 10 of the overall results. Teammate
Matt Winfrey finished in eighth with 1:59.46 and
Justin Bills placed ninth with 2:03.48.
Ryder Tam was the runner-up in the 1,500-meter run with 4:07.36 for his second-fastest unadjusted time of his career.
David Marino finished two seconds behind Tam with 4:09.84 for third place.
Ryan Buchanan ran 55.95 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles for his sixth career performance faster than 56 seconds.
UCCS will continue action in Southern California for the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific on Friday.
