UCCS Third, Crites Sixth in Inaugural UCCS Invite

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs lowered its team score by 11 strokes and Amanda Crites and Alex Darwin both shot 82s as the Mountain Lions finished third at the Inaugural UCCS Invitational at Pine Creek Golf Club. UCCS finished with a score of 332 in today's round and a tournament score of 675.

Crites turned in a pair of 41 scores on the front and back nine to lower her score by two strokes from yesterday's opening round. It matched her best individual round of the season and was her best performance of the spring schedule. Darwin recorded a pair of birdies in today's round in a six-shot improvement from yesterday.

Andrea Ballou cut three strokes off of her score, all of them on the back nine, for an 83 today. Jamie Zook rounded out the team score with an 85, helped by back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17.

Raquell Castillo overcame a tough performance on hole 18 and shot even on the front nine to finish with an 84. She competed as an individual but tied for eighth in the overall standings.

The Mountain Lions will be back in action next week at the NCAA Regional Spring Preview April 6-7 in Rohnertpark, Calif. Sonoma State will host the tournament at the Foxtail Golf Club, the site of the NCAA South Central / West Region Championships in May.
