COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
Raquell Castillo and
Amanda Crites both shot an 84 as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team finished third in the first round of the Inaugural UCCS invitational at Pine Creek Golf Club. The Mountain Lions are five strokes out of second-place Adams State.
Crites and Castillo were tied for eighth, although Castillo competed as an individual and didn't factor into the team score in today's round. Crites hit par on eight of the holes and match her best opening round performance of the season. The two Mountain Lions were two strokes out of the top five in the field.
Jamie Zook and
Andrea Ballou both turned in scorecards of 86. Zook shot 5-over on the back nine with six of her nine pars in the final half of the course. Ballou did no worse than a bogey until the final hole of the round with a double-bogey on hole 18.
Forre Zook provided the final UCCS team score with an 87.
