GOLDEN, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs senior hurdler
Ryan Buchanan finished third in the 400-meter hurdles for his first outdoor competition of the season to lead the Mountain Lions at the Kit Mayer Memorial Open at Colorado School of Mines. He ran 57.29 seconds and is fourth in the RMAC performance lists with an adjusted time of 57.40 seconds.
Teammate
Nick Lemley finished in fifth with 1:01.86 in his first hurdle day of the outdoor season. He also finished second in his heat and eighth overall in the 110-meter hurdles earlier in the day with 16.95 seconds.
Lemley and Buchanan joined
Caleb Simons and
Ricardo Malta in the 4x100-meter relay for a runner-up finish in 44.25 seconds. Malta finished No. 15 in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, while Simons was No. 14 in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes to lead the Mountain Lion sprinters.
David Marino led a pack of five Mountain Lions in the 1,500-meter run with 4:15.49. It was his first 1,500-meter race since 2012, and he lowered his unadjusted time by more than 17 seconds. His altitude-adjusted time of 4:08.64 puts him in No. 24 in the RMAC performance lists.
UCCS will be in Colorado Springs for its next meet at the Colorado College Invitational April 4.
