BOULDER, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs senior
Matt Winfrey ran the fifth-fastest time the RMAC for the 800-meter run in the opening weekend of the 2015 outdoor season in the Jerry Quiller Classic at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Caleb Simons won both of his heats in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes to lead the sprinters.
Winfrey was third in his heat of the 800-meter run with 1:58.18 and finished No. 13 in the field of 28 runners. He has the fifth-fastest time in the RMAC for the opening weekend with an adjusted time of 1:57.44. Ryder Tam ran an adjusted mark of 1:58.79 to finish one spot behind Winfrey in the heat.Simons ran 23.55 seconds in the 200-meter and finished No. 13 overall, and placed No. 14 overall in the 400-meter dash with 51.89 seconds. He ran the final leg of the 4x400-meter relay with Winfrey, Tam and
Justin Bills on a team that clocked 3:34.61.
The Mountain Lions will be back in action again next weekend for the Front Range Classic March 27-28 at Colorado School of Mines.
