GUNNISON, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs sprinter
Ryan Buchanan won the 400-meter dash in 51.78 seconds as the Mountain Lions competed at the Western State Alumni Open today in the Mountaineer Fieldhouse.
Buchanan ran nearly a half-second faster from last week's Division II Invitational, but because the Western State track is a wide-radius 200-meter track instead of the smaller and tighter track at Colorado Mines, his season-best adjusted time will remain at 51.04 seconds.

Buchanan also led the four Mountain Lions in Gunnison in the 200-meter dash with 23.58 seconds and finished eighth overall.
Ricardo Malta placed No. 11 in the 60-meter dash to open the day with 7.51 seconds, and improvement of two-hundredths of a second from last week.
UCCS will be in action again next weekend at the Grand Valley State Big Meet in Allendale, Mich.
