GOLDEN, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's distance medley relay team turned in a provisional qualifying mark for the national championships with program-record time to open the Joe Davies Open today at Colorado School of the Mines. The Mountain Lions ran an unadjusted time of 10 minutes, 18.09 seconds to finish second among teams in the event.
Carson Aberle,
Ryan Buchanan,
Kyle McCloskey and David Kiamiyo ran a time that will adjust down to 9:54.32 for a 200-meter track at sea level. The time is unofficially the ninth-fastest in Division II this season and would rank high enough to advance to the national championships in March.
The Mountain Lions will continue action in the Davies Open tomorrow. The first action with UCCS will be the 5,000-meter run at 11 a.m.
