ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. –
Alex Darwin led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in the final round of the fall season with a 4-over-par 76 as the Mountain Lions turned in the third-best round of the season in a seventh-place finish at the RMAC South Event. UCCS shot 36-over-par in today's round for a score of 324 and finished the tournament at 85-over-par with 661.
Darwin's performance today was the best round for a Mountain Lion this week and tied for the second-best this season. She cut 10 strokes off of her performance from yesterday and was eight strokes better on the back nine today. Darwin finished in a tie for No. 19 with a tournament score of 162 for 18-over-par.
Raquell Castillo led the Mountain Lions with a two-round score of 157 for 13-over-par and posted an 80 in today's round.
Jamie Zook improved her score by nine strokes from yesterday with an 81 for the third team score today. Zook placed No. 40 overall with a tournament score of 171, one stroke ahead of her sister, Forre.
Amanda Crites turned in the final UCCS team score with a 15-over 87 today.
The Mountain Lions finished seventh among the 13 RMAC teams today in the second conference event of the season. The 324 in today's round was the best in nearly a month and was the eighth-best in program history. UCCS finished three strokes behind Western New Mexico and was eight ahead of Colorado Christian.
UCCS will be off until the spring portion of the schedule resumes in March 2016.
