GOLDEN, Colo. -
Corey Brown won the 5,000-meter run with the fourth-fastest time in the RMAC this season to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's track and field team in the Division II Invitational at Colorado School of Mines today. The Mountain Lions finished fifth among the six teams in the scored meet.
Brown ran a raw time of 16 minutes, 7.66 seconds to lead a trio of Mountain Lions in the field.
Mitch Klomp crossed the line in 16:19.70 to finish second and
Seth Polich finished third in 16:25.90. Brown's time will adjust to 15:22.33 after track size and altitude conversions for the fourth-fastest time in the conference, while Klomp is fifth in the conference with an adjusted time of 15:33.81.
David Kimaiyo ran his first collegiate indoor mile and finished fourth in 4:30.09. He is No. 13 in the conference with an adjusted time of 4:18.01 and was the top freshman in today's race. Teammate
David Marino won his heat and placed one spot behind Kimaiyo in the overall results in a raw time of 4:36.39 for an adjusted 4:24.03.
The Mountain Lions will travel to Gunnison, Colo., next weekend for the Western State Alumni Open Feb. 6-7. The meet will be a preview of the facility that will host the RMAC Indoor Championships in four weeks.
