ALLENDALE, Mich. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs 800-meter runner Carson Aberle ran 1 minute, 54.31 seconds and finished No. 16 in the preliminaries at the 2014 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships today at Grand Valley State.

Aberle was seventh in his heat after the first lap, but worked his way up to fourth on the backstretch by maneuvering  on the outside of the runners. He fell behind in the final curve but was able to move his way up to sixth in the final 100 meters. 

Aberle improved by one spot from his performance at the national outdoor championships last spring in Pueblo, Colo. He was an indoor All-American in the event earlier this year and was the conference runner-up for the indoor season.
