NORWALK, Calif. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs senior Alexa Urban lowered her own program records in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run to lead three Mountain Lions at Beach Invitational today hosted by Long Beach State. Her time in the 800-meter run also provisionally qualified her for the national championships in just more than a month.

Urban ran 2 minutes and 12.88 seconds and finished No. 40 out of the 140 runners spread out among 15 heats. Her time is unofficially third in the RMAC and No. 21 in Division II this season with several times still to be reported from meets across the nation. Urban also broke her own record in the 400-meter dash by nearly a full second with 57.20 second earlier in the day. She will move into third in the RMAC performance lists, pending other results from the weekend.

Alexa's younger sister, Makenzie, also provisionally qualified in the 800-meter run today with 2:13.82. It's the second-fastest time in program history and its three-tenths of a second better than her previous season-best from the Colorado College Invitational two weeks ago.

Melanie Diep finished fifth in her heat with 2:19.29 and was second among the five Division II runners in the heat.

Up Next: UCCS will compete at the Colorado Mines Quad Meet April 26 in Golden, Colo. It's the final meet before the RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 5-6 in Alamosa, Colo.
