Mountain Lions Open up Conference Play At Home Against New Mexico Highlands

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team will face New Mexico Highlands in its RMAC home opener. This will be the fifth game of the six game homestand.

The Mountain Lions will look to continue their best start in program history. The Mountain Lions are 4-0 for the first time ever. The Mountain Lions are coming off a close contest Wednesday night in which they beat Western Colorado 1-0 with the Mountain Lions scoring in the 75th minute off a corner kick by Jenna Lubieniecki that was directed in by Annick Pearson off of two Western Colorado defenders.

New Mexico Highlands is coming off of a win over Western Colorado as well. An interesting note from that game is that the Cowgirls scored the only goal of the game in the 77th minute.

In the series history between UCCS and New Mexico Highlands, the Cowgirls took the last meeting by a score of 3-0.  The Cowgirls enter tonight on a two-game win streak by beating Texas-Permian Basin and Western Colorado. The Cowgirls will be led on offense by Marci Johnson who has scored two goals and Kelsie Roberts who has also scored two goals.

The Mountain Lions are led on offense by Hannah Levett who has four goals on the season so far and Hannah Rather who has scored two goals.

Levett currently stands at fifth in the nation in game-winning goals and leads the the Mountain Lion's No. 24 ranked scoring offense in the nation.Levett also is No. 11 in the nation in points per game. Levett is also ranked No. 15 in the country in total goals.

The Mountain Lions will be one of five RMAC schools opening conference play on Friday. Metro State will host Regis at 1 p.m., Colorado Christian will host Adams State at 3:30 p.m., Colorado Mesa will host undefeated Fort Lewis at 4 p.m., Colorado State-Pueblo will host Colorado Mines at 7 p.m., and the Mountain Lions will host New Mexico Highlands at 7 p.m to round out the RMAC teams in action.
