COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior Lucas Taitt of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team was named as the Week 4 RMAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning after scoring a pair of goals and helping the Mountain Lions continue their unbeaten stretch across two non-conference matches last week.
 
Taitt collects RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in his collegiate career after making an impact on both ends of the pitch during an unbeaten week for the Mountain Lions. The junior started both matches as a wing defender and logged a total of 135 minutes while helping UCCS to a 2-2 draw against MSU Denver and a 2-1 road victory over No. 17 nationally ranked Regis University. An All-RMAC Honorable Mention last season at Colorado School of Mines, Taitt also provided a significant offensive spark from the back line, scoring two goals on four shot attempts, including the opening goal in the 22^nd minute against MSU Denver. Taitt followed with another key performance on Sunday at Regis, helping the Mountain Lion defense limit the Rangers to just one goal before finding the back of the net in the 82^nd minute to erase a 1-0 deficit and level the match. UCCS went on to score the game-winner less than six minutes later to secure the 2-1 comeback victory.
 
The UCCS men's soccer program is set to open their RMAC schedule this week with a pair of road matchups as the team will head to Grand Junction, Colo., on Thursday, Sept. 24 for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Colorado Mesa University before continuing to Salt Lake City, Utah for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff at Westminster University on Sunday, Sept. 27.
