Five Mountain Lions Earn All-RMAC Baseball Recognition

5/6/2026 10:00:00 AM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced Wednesday the student-athletes that were selected to the 2026 All-RMAC Baseball First and Second Teams as well as the Gold Glove winners from around the conference. University of Colorado Colorado Springs had five student athletes recognized, as both Bryce Peterson and Trevor Dale earned spots in the middle infield of the First Team, with Tyler Genrich occupying the first base position on the Second Team. Quinn Medin and Gerrit Erickson were both honored with Gold Gloves after their unblemished defensive regular seasons.

The RMAC All-Conference Teams and Major Awards are nominated and voted on by the leagues nine head coaches, with coaches not permitted to vote for players on their own teams.

Colorado Mesa took home four of the five major awards with Kolby Felix winning Player of the Year, and Head Coach Chris Hanks taking home Coach of the Year after piloting the Mavericks to a 45-4 regular season. Impressively Jackson Eisenhauer captured both the Freshman Pitcher of the Year, and Pitcher of the Year awards for CMU, with Osaias Hinojosa landing Freshman Player of the Year for Adams State.

Bryce Peterson, who was picked to be Second Team All-RMAC last spring, climbs up to the top squad, after a standout season on both sides of the ball. At the plate, Peterson led the RMAC with his red hot .436 batting average, with 88 hits in fifty games on the season. His 67 RBIs led the conference, as his 20 doubles was just two shy of the RMAC best. Peterson was one of eight athletes in the league that had a OPS of 1.200 or better (1.295), with the Brighton native also swiping 10 bases, tenth most in the RMAC. Defensively, Peterson led the league with 143 assists on the season from his second base position, as he helped UCCS turn 37 double plays, second most in the RMAC this season.

Trevor Dale earns his first All-RMAC selection on the First Team this season, after a breakout year at shortstop for UCCS. Dale began the year at third base, but slid back over to the six hole after early season injuries shook up the UCCS order. Dale would never relinquish his spot after the change, playing the remainder of the season as the UCCS starting shortstop. Dale enjoyed his year in the batters box, smashing a Division II best 27 home runs on the season, while scoring 69 runs for UCCS, the second most by an individual in the RMAC. Dale was a merchant when it came to total offense, constructing a 1.464 OPS, which was .091 ahead of RMAC Player of the Year Kolby Felix who was second best in that category. Dale either led the league, or was in the top three in the following categories: Slugging Percentage (1st, .966), OPS (1st, 1.464), Runs Scored (2nd, 69), RBIs (2nd, 66), Triples (T1st, 5), Home Runs (1st, 27), and Walks (3rd, 31).

Tyler Genrich plays his way onto the Second Team this season, after perhaps the most clutch player on the team for UCCS this season. Genrich, who took over as the starting first baseman this season, quickly instilled confidence in Mountain Lion fans as the new backstop at first, but also turned heads with his offensive prowess at the plate. Genrich completed the Mountain Lion trio that led the league in RBIs, as he checked in third with 65. Not as big of a threat in the average department, Genrich made up ground in his hard hitting ability, as he was fourth in the league in slugging percentage (.763) and eighth in the conference in OPS (1.196). Perhaps most impressive, Genrich was the man to answer the call at the plate numerous times this season, providing UCCS with three walk-off hits on the year, proving none could come through in a bigger spot. Defensively, Genrich led the RMAC with 421 putouts on the season, 79 more than the next most.

Two Mountain Lions finished the season with a perfect report card on defense, with both Quinn Medin and Gerrit Erickson landing Gold Glove awards. Medin was one of three qualified players in the RMAC that finished with a 1.000 fielding percentage, joining Micheal Dietz of MSU Denver, and Kolby Felix of Colorado Mesa. Gerrit Erickson showed of his elite defense as the best defensive pitcher in the conference, recording 17 assists, and eight putouts in 25 chances, never recording an error. He helped turn two double plays, while keeping runners close, and picking off three from the mound.

UCCS begins postseason play this afternoon, as they take on Colorado State University Pueblo at 3 p.m. in Grand Junction in the first round of the RMAC Baseball Championships. Full game and streaming information is available on the baseball schedule page.
