COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse head coach
Brice Queener has announced the addition of legendary coach Susan "Stuey" Stuart to his staff.
"We are ecstatic to welcome Stuey to the Mountain Lion Lacrosse coaching staff!" commented Queener. "Stuey is an absolute legend of the game, a phenomenal coach, and a great role model for our student-athletes."
Stuart brings more than three decades of head coaching experience after leading the distinguished Division III program at Colorado College for 31 seasons. From 1995–2025, she guided the Tigers to an impressive 331-154-1 (.681) overall record, serving as the only head coach in program history until her retirement following the 2025 season.
"Thanks to
Brice Queener for the invitation to join the coaching staff to focus on the defensive end," said Stuart. "I am excited to be joining the Mountain Lion family as I have a passion for coaching and the great game of lacrosse. I am looking forward to contributing to the growth and development of these dedicated student-athletes. I look forward to a lot of fun and hard work with this team."
Under Stuart's leadership, Colorado College made 12 appearances in the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship, posting a 13-12 postseason record. The Tigers became the only team from the West Region to advance to the national semifinals during her tenure, cementing the program's place among the nation's elite.
Stuart concluded her head coaching career ranked eighth all-time in Division III history with 331 career victories. An eight-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) West Region Coach of the Year, she also led her team to back-to-back Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships in her final two seasons.
"Having watched and competed against Stuey's teams at Colorado College for many years, I have always admired how they play and how they represent the state of Colorado and the game of lacrosse," said Queener. "We are so excited to have Stuey coaching with us!"
The Mountain Lions will open the 2026 season this Sunday, Feb. 22 at home against No. 6 Maryville University. The first draw will take place at 11 a.m. inside Mountain Lion Stadium.
