COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Freshman attacker
Ella Mills of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Week 5 Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Mills powered the Mountain Lions to a 3-0 week at home, extending their winning streak to four games behind a dominant offensive stretch. The Lakeville, Minn. native opened the week on Wednesday with a career-high six goals and one assist for a personal-best seven points in a 14-9 win over Missouri Western State University. She placed all nine of her shots on goal and netted the game-winner.
Two days later, Mills recorded five goals in a 22-7 victory against Fort Lewis College, including two player-down scores and her second game-winning goal of the week. She capped the week with another five-goal performance in a 17-12 win over Colorado State University Pueblo on Sunday.
Across the three victories, Mills totaled 16 goals and one assist for 17 points, notching three consecutive hat tricks. She placed 22 of her 25 shots on goal while adding four player-down goals, one player-up goal, two game-winning goals, five ground balls, and three caused turnovers.
