The NCAA Power Index is used to evaluate NCAA Division II teams and help determine postseason selections and tournament seedings. Implemented at the Division II level for the first time this season, the NPI serves as the primary selection tool for determining the NCAA Tournament field in most team sports.

The formula considers several factors, including wins, strength of schedule, quality wins and match location, accounting for home, away and neutral-site results.

In women's soccer and volleyball, the South Central Region includes programs from the Lone Star Conference and the RMAC. Following conference postseason play, the top six teams in the final women's soccer NPI rankings will be selected for the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship, while the top eight teams in volleyball will advance to the South Central Regional Tournament. Automatic qualifiers from each conference will also be factored into the respective fields.

In men's soccer, Super Region 4 includes programs from the RMAC, Lone Star Conference, California Collegiate Athletic Association, PacWest Conference and Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Following conference postseason play, the top 10 teams in the final NPI rankings will be seeded for the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Super Regional Tournament, with automatic qualifiers from each conference also factored into the field.

The NCAA soccer tournament fields will be announced on Monday, Nov. 9.  The men's selection show will begin at 4:30 p.m. (MT), followed by the women's selection at 5 p.m. (MT) on www.ncaa.com.  Beginning today, the volleyball rankings will be updated daily leading up to selections.
