KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After an undefeated home stretch this past weekend, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team stays at No. 23 in the Week 9 United Soccer Coaches Rankings on Tuesday Afternoon.
California State University, Los Angeles maintained their position at No. 1 in the poll after earning a win and draw over the weekend. The Mountain Lions were one of three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) schools within the top 25, as Colorado State University, Pueblo remained at No. 2 and Regis University moved up two spots for a No. 15 ranking. Fort Lewis College also received votes in the Week 9 National Poll.
Wrapping up their last road matches the previous week, the Mountain Lions returned home for one game over the weekend in their annual Senior Day game. UCCS men's soccer dominated in a 4-1 victory against Colorado School of Mines, continuing their undefeated streak at Mountain Lion Stadium.
The Mountain Lions' triumphs were spearheaded by junior defender
Lucas Taitt, as he scored a hat trick within 16 minutes of being subbed on against his former team. Taitt's incredible performance extended his goal tally to eight on the season and placed him on top as the Mountain Lions' leading goal scorer. Senior forward
Jack Cook extended his goal tally to two on the season, as he scored the fourth against Mines. Each goal was assisted by a different player.
Dalton Uehling,
Diego Macias,
Eduardo Macias, and
Ieuan Bailey respectively contributed to different goals during the win against the Orediggers.
The UCCS men's soccer team will finish out the regular season with a highly anticipated home game against No. 2 CSU Pueblo on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. The RMAC Men's Soccer Tournament will begin on Sunday, Nov. 1.
