COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs junior
Nicole Martin has been voted the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Martin, who transferred to UCCS from Colorado Mesa University, is the first Mountain Lion to receive RMAC Player of the Week accolades since Sept. 26, 2022 when Raegen Emery was named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week. Martin is also the first Mountain Lion to be tabbed the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week since Natasha Habert brought home the award on Sept. 25, 21.
A native of Colorado Springs, Colo., Martin helped the Mountain Lions stay undefeated after winning two road matches this past weekend. UCCS swept Westminster University on Friday before taking down No. 24 Colorado Mesa Saturday afternoon, 3-2.
The 6-foot-2 middle blocker averaged 1.25 blocks per set and added 2.5 kills per set while hitting .366. She started the weekend with two solo blocks, four kills, and three digs against the Griffins. Making her return to her former home court, Martin lit up Brownson Arena Saturday afternoon, recording a career high eight block assists while putting down 16 kills and hitting a solid .406 at the net.
In 11 matches this season, Martin leads the conference in aces, serving up 25 aces and averaging .66 aces per set, and she ranks ninth in the league in blocks (0.97 per set) and points (3.58 per set).
