LEXINGTON, Ky. – One week after earning American Volleyball Coaches Association All-South Central Region recognition, University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore outside hitter Payton Tompkins has been named to the 2025 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention Team.  Tompkins is the third Mountain Lion in program history to earn All-America status, and the first since 2017 when Taylor Hamilton was also named All-America Honorable Mention.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Tompkins finished her sophomore campaign ranking fourth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in points per set (3.98) and fifth in kills per set (3.5).  A starter in all 30 matches this season, Tompkins totaled 371 kills with a .249 hitting percentage, and added 251 digs (2.4 per set), 43 blocks, and 26 aces.  The Honorable Mention accolade adds to her list of awards this season as she garnered All-RMAC First Team and Academic All-RMAC First Team, and was named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 27.

The Mountain Lions captured their first-ever RMAC regular-season title after posting a 13-1 league record, tying Metropolitan State University of Denver for the best RMAC mark.  UCCS closed out the 2025 season owning a 26-4 record after falling to Colorado School of Mines, 3-1, in the NCAA South Central Region quarterfinal round.
