COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team defeated Regis University 2-0 to snap their streak of six games without a win on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The match started slow with the only scoring threat for either team in the first 35 minutes coming during the 12th minute when Diego Macias missed off a cross from Miles Seminario.
- UCCS opened the scoring in the 37th minute when Nick Walker rocketed the ball past the Regis goalkeeper for his team-best third goal of the year.
- Regis Forward Elias Taubo picked up a yellow card in the 41st minute for tripping D. Macias from behind on an attack.
- The second half was played just as slowly and tactically as the first, with an interruption in the 59th minute for a yellow card issued to Ranger defenseman Felix Ploner for tripping Walker.
- The Rangers narrowly missed an opportunity to tie the game in the 62nd minute after a header from Ignacio Bellina went wide right.
- The Mountain Lions extended their lead to 2-0 in the 71st minute as Jack Cook sprinted past the Regis defense after receiving a clear from goalkeeper Hugo Sjöberg and buried the ball in the net.
- Jackson Million and Luke Noameshie both received yellow cards in the 88th minute, but Regis did not capitalize in the final two minutes as UCCS closed out the 2-0 victory.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- The Mountain Lions were outshot by the Rangers 13 to 10, but put more shots on net, tallying five to Regis' one.
- Nick Walker scored his third goal of the season today. He remains the only Mountain Lion with multiple goals, as Jack Cook's goal was his first.
- Sjöberg converted on his one save opportunity in frame to record his first clean sheet of the season and as a Mountain Lion.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With today's victory over the Rangers, UCCS has now won five of the last six games and has not lost to Regis since March 2020.
- The Mountain Lions get back into the win column today after going six straight games without a victory.
- Both freshman defender Maddox Brown and Sjöberg recorded their first career assists for UCCS today, assisting on the first and second goals, respectively.
