COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field team completed day two of the 2025 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday as the women's team maintained their position atop the team standings with 96.5 points while the men's team remained in second place with 84 points but closed the gap on the men's team leader, Colorado School of Mines, to a margin of just 15 points. On an individual basis, the Mountain Lions combined to add six more podium finishes and seven NCAA provisional qualifying marks for the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Redshirt sophomore KJ McInnis secured the first of two gold medals on the day for the UCCS men's team as he posted a season-best and NCAA provisional qualifying leap of 14.81m in the men's triple jump to win the event and push 10 points to the team score. Freshman Realiti Smith also did his part in the event, finishing fourth overall with a mark of 14.31m to add five more points to the tally.
- The Mountain Lions claimed another event title in the men's discus throw, where junior Kyle Demos uncorked a school record and NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 53.09m for a first-place finish and 10 team points. Junior Michael Roberts added three more points in the event as the sixth-place finisher as he posted a personal best mark of 47.11m.
- UCCS picked up 13 points in the women's 3,000m steeplechase with redshirt senior Rachel Richtman making her way onto the podium and scoring eight points as the second-place finisher with an improved NCAA provisional qualifying converted time of 10:32.81. Redshirt sophomore Audrey Brunken added four more points with a fifth-place finish as she posted a season-best NCAA provisional qualifying converted time of 10:51.36, while redshirt junior Brooke Moss took eighth place and scored one point with a personal best and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 10:54.94.
- Sophomore Evan Atkin and junior Dillon Arvayo completed the final five events of the decathlon on Saturday and came away with a total of 14 team points as Atkin finished second overall with a personal best and NCAA provisional qualifying score of 6,613 points and Arvayo claimed third place with an NCAA provisional qualifying score of 6,363 points. Atkin had a strong second day of competition as he posted personal bests in the 110m hurdles (15.92s) and javelin throw (50.95m) in addition to marks of 38.40m in the discus throw, 3.80m in the pole vault, and 5:11.07 in the 1500m. Arvayo established a new personal best in the pole vault at 4.30m, while recording marks of 16.08s in the 110m hurdles, 36.96m in the discus throw, 47.92m in the javelin throw, and 5:05.87 in the 1500m.
- Freshman Payton Rodgers made an appearance on the podium in the women's triple jump as she posted a leap of 11.88m to finish second overall and score eight points. The Mountain Lions added three additional points in the event with junior Kathryn Carroll finishing in seventh place at a mark of 11.43m and sophomore Brielle Bracken taking eighth place with a mark of 11.37m.
- The Mountain Lions saw a trio of student-athletes score points with personal best tosses in the women's shot put, led by junior Bailey Young scoring four points as the fifth-place finisher with a mark of 13.64m. Junior Savannah Jorgens finished directly behind Young in sixth place and tallied three points with a heave of 13.43m, while freshman Jaedyn Kohn smashed her previous personal best by nearly 1.5 meters with a mark of 13.20m to finish eighth overall and score one point.
- Redshirt sophomore Joseph Impellitteri tallied three points for UCCS in the men's 3,000m steeplechase as he finished sixth overall in the event with a converted time of 9:14.23.
- The Mountain Lions had three student-athletes advance through the preliminary round of the men's 200m dash with senior Kymani Sterling (21.48c) and redshirt senior Donovan Mini (21.53c) each posting season-best times to finish second in their respective heats and earn an automatic qualification. Junior Daryn Ofori-Kuragu finished third in his heat despite posting the fastest time of the trio at 21.40c but qualified for the final by time.
- In the preliminary round of the women's 200m dash, a pair of UCCS student-athletes sprinted to automatic qualifying times as sophomores Danaya Kinnard and Zane Bullock both finished second in their heats with respective times of 24.34c and 24.74c.
- One day after securing her spot in the 400m final, redshirt senior Rachel Goodrich put together another strong outing in the preliminary round of the women's 800m as she galloped to a first-place finish in her heat with a converted time of 2:15.78 to earn automatic qualification for tomorrow's event final. Redshirt freshman Olivia Sargent found herself in an extremely competitive race as she clocked a converted time of 2:15.20 and finished third in her heat but ultimately joined Goodrich in qualifying for the event final on time.
- UCCS had a pair of automatic qualifiers in the preliminary rounds of the men's 110m hurdles and women's 100m hurdles. On the men's side, sophomore Nigel James clocked a converted time of 14.76s to finish second in his heat, while sophomore Bryce Joshlin shaved more than six-tenths of a second off his previous personal best in the event with a converted time of 14.87 to finish second in his heat and join James in tomorrow's final field. In the women's 100m hurdles, sophomore Krissie Sanders recorded a season-best converted time of 14.55s as the top finisher in her heat, while Rodgers made a smooth transition from the jumps runway to the track with a converted time of 14.70s that was good for second in her heat.

- UCCS recorded updates to the top five lists in the outdoor record book for five different events on the second day of the RMAC Outdoor Championships, including the men's 110m hurdles, men's triple jump, women's shot put, men's discus throw, and men's decathlon.
