Sarah Urbanic's seven-point, six-goal performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER: UCCS 4, AU 2
- Allie Schell got UCCS on the board first after Sydnee-Ann Moeller connected with her for a goal to even things at 1-1. The Mountain Lions then scored the following three goals unanswered, with two goals coming from Sarah Urbanic and one from Peyton Ross. UCCS allowed one more AU goal but would be up 4-2 after one quarter of action.
SECOND QUARTER: UCCS 6, AU 3
- Urbanic tacked on two more goals at the start of the second quarter, but AU replied with a goal soon after. Schell tacked on her second goal of the day at the 6:34 mark in the frame. Emma Grace Martin then recorded her first and second goal to put the Mountain Lions up 9-4. The Eagles tacked on their fifth goal, but Urbanic closed the first half strong, scoring her fifth goal to give UCCS a 10-5 advantage going into halftime.
THIRD QUARTER: UCCS 4, AU 3
- The Mountain Lions scored three player-up goals in the third frame, coming from Sofia Watts and two from Erica Rivera. AU scored three goals in the frame, but Rylie Maready capped off the strong quarter for UCCS with a crafty goal to see the Mountain Lions up 14-8 going into the fourth quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: UCCS 2, AU 2
- Watts started the fourth quarter with a goal after Urbanic assisted her, but the two teams were quiet for most of the fourth. The Eagles scored two goals at 11:16 and 4:14 in the quarter, but Urbanic capped off the Mountain Lions' win with a free-position goal late in the fourth, resulting in a 16-10 UCCS win.
FINAL SCORE: UCCS 16, AU 10
GAME STATISTICS
- Urbanic led the Mountain Lions today with six points, five goals, and one assist.
- Schell contributed four points, with two goals in two attempts and two assists.
- Three different Mountain Lions recorded two goals: Martin, Rivera, and Watts. Martin also added an assist.
- UCCS had 31 ground balls as Kendra Knutson (five), Kiley Cuddahy (four), Meghan Weiss (three), and Ave Goodnature (three) accounted for 15 of UCCS' 31 ground balls.
- Jordyn Nuñez started in goal for the Mountain Lions and made nine saves on her way to her second win this year. Ellen Gernert also appeared in goal, saving two Eagles attempts and allowing one goal.
- The Mountain Lions outshot the Eagles 28-27 and had more assists (6-5).
- UCCS caused 13 AU turnovers, while the Mountain Lions turned it over 11 times.
- The Mountain Lions were successful on 21 of 24 clears, while the Eagles were successful on all 17 of their clear attempts.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Mountain Lions' 3-1 record matches their best start in program history since 2021.
- As a team, UCCS set new season highs today in saves (11), ground balls (31), caused turnovers (13), and clears (31).
- Individually, Nuñez made the most saves in a game this season with 11, while Knutson picked up a season high five ground balls and Goodnature caused a season high three turnovers.
- Urbanic has recorded a hat trick in all four games this season, including two six-goal games in the last outings. Her two free-position goals today move her in a tie for fourth overall for most free-position goals in school history.
- Schell's four-point performance today moves her to ninth all-time in the career record books
- Senior Erica Rivera also moves up in the career record books in goals (tied-12th, 33), shots on goal (11th, 58), and player-up goals (tied-fifth, six).
