PUEBLO, Colo. – Competing in windy conditions at the CSUP ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colo., the University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field team had another strong day of action on day two of the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational as the men's and women's teams combined to record six NCAA provisional qualifying marks and four event wins.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Kyle Demos had a huge performance in the men's shot put as he established a new outdoor school record in the event with an NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 16.97m that placed him third overall in the field of 39 competitors. Demos returned to the throws ring later in the afternoon and logged another NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the men's discus throw, where he unleashed a toss of 50.76m to finish first overall among 47 throwers in the competition.
- The Mountain Lions recorded NCAA provisional qualifying times in both the men's and women's 4x100m relay races with the women's group of Victoria Farinas, Zane Bullock, Danaya Kinnard, and Madissyn Moore earning a first place finish with an altitude converted time of 46.19s and the men's squad of Donovan Mini, Daryn Ofori-Kuragu, Kymani Sterling, and Luke Trinrud racing to an adjusted time of 40.58s to finish second overall in a field of 10 teams.
- Senior Logan Cole notched an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the men's 10,000m, clocking a converted time of 29:54.83 for a fifth-place finish among 51 finishers in the event. Redshirt sophomore Caden Leal also had a strong finish as he raced to a personal best adjusted time of 30:30.49 for a 13th place finish.
- The Mountain Lions secured each of the top four spots in the women's 3,000m steeplechase and it was redshirt senior Rachel Richtman leading the way with a first-place finish overall in the field of 10 runners with an NCAA provisional qualifying converted time of 10:58.00. Richtman was followed across the finish line by redshirt sophomore Audrey Brunken in second place with a converted time of 11:08.29, redshirt junior Molly Breuer in third place with a converted time of 11:16.90, and redshirt junior Brooke Moss in fourth place with a converted time of 11:22.69.
- In the women's pole vault, junior Brooke Peterson was just shy of the NCAA provisional qualifying threshold for the event as she earned a third-place finish among 16 vaulters with a mark of 3.75m.
- Senior Victoria Farinas had a strong start to her outdoor season as she raced to a second-place finish among 29 sprinters in the women's 100m dash with a converted time of 12.00s. Sophomore Zane Bullock joined Farinas as a top five finisher in the event, taking fifth place overall with a converted time of 12.26s.
- UCCS had two of the top four finishers among a 14-person field in the men's 3,000m steeplechase with redshirt sophomore Joseph Impellitteri taking third overall in an adjusted time of 9:32.80 and redshirt junior Jack Donze claiming fourth place with an adjusted time of 9:42.86.
- The Mountain Lions had 10 student-athletes competing in the men's 100m dash and saw four of them run sub-11 second converted times, led by junior Daryn Ofori-Kuragu in eighth place with an adjusted time of 10.66s. In addition to Ofori-Kuragu, junior Sebastien Jean clocked a time of 10.83c for a 15th place finish with sophomore Gunnar Betts taking 17th place at 10.86c and sophomore Luke Trinrud claiming 23rd at 10.98c.
- A trio of Mountain Lions finished in the top five of the women's long jump competition with sophomore Danaya Kinnard pacing the group as the second overall finisher with a mark of 5.59m. Kinnard was followed in the event standings by redshirt junior Madissyn Moore in third place with a leap of 5.52m and senior Chelsea Howard in fifth place with a jump of 5.45m.
- Senior Victoria Malaki put together a solid start to the season in the women's discus throw as she notched a third-place finish among 37 competitors with a toss of 42.20m.
- Competing in a large 70-person field in the women's 1500m, sophomore Emma Montoya earned a 12th place finish with a personal best converted time of 4:40.73. Joining Montoya among the top 20 finishers in the competition were redshirt freshman Madison Brosig in 15th place at a converted time of 4:44.17 and redshirt sophomore Maddie Ruszkiewicz in 18th place at a converted time of 4:45.57. In the men's 1500m, redshirt freshman Jonas Graff was the top finisher for UCCS, taking 27th place in the 82-person field with a converted time of 4:04.54.
- Redshirt sophomore KJ McInnis earned a runner-up finish in the men's long jump as he posted a mark of 6.94m. Not far behind McInnis was junior Willie Tran with a mark of 6.64m that was good for fifth overall in the field of 20 jumpers.
- McInnis logged another second-place finish in the men's high jump as he cleared a bar height of 1.90m. He was only beaten out by his teammate, Alex Emers, who recorded a first-place mark of 2.00m in the first outdoor high jump competition of his freshman season.
- The Mountain Lions grabbed three of the top five spots in the women's shot put, led by junior Bailey Young with a second-place toss of 12.70m. Junior Savannah Jorgens finished just behind Young in third place with a mark of 12.21m, while freshman Jaedyn Kohn took fifth place while notching a mark of 11.76m.
- Typically an 800m runner, redshirt senior Rachel Goodrich took to the track for the first open 400m dash of her collegiate career on Saturday and went on to pace the Mountain Lions with a fourth-place finish among 29 competitors in a converted time of 58.28s. In the men's 400m dash, redshirt sophomore Andrew Muncy returned to the track after missing the indoor season due to injury and put forth a solid effort as he claimed ninth place in the 56-person field at a converted time of 50.15s.
- An event winner in the women's triple jump yesterday, freshman Payton Rodgers moved over to the track on Saturday and posted a solid effort in the women's 100m hurdles as she earned a sixth-place finish among 28 hurdlers with an adjusted time of 14.78s.
- Sophomore Dallis Robinson earned a fourth place finish out of 23 competitors in the women's high jump as she cleared a bar height of 1.55m in her outdoor season debut in the event.
- A pair of Mountain Lions made their collegiate debuts in the women's 10,000m race and went on to finish inside the top 10 of the 22-person field with redshirt junior Emma Finchum taking ninth place with a converted time of 37:22.62 and redshirt sophomore Abby Bartel securing 10th place with a converted time of 37:31.30.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- UCCS recorded updates to the top five lists in the indoor record book for three different events on day two of the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational, including the women's pole vault and men's and women's shot put.

- The Mountain Lions will return to the campus of Colorado State University Pueblo next weekend to compete at the Spank Blasing Invitational on March 28-29.
