Track Size: 200 meters (Banked)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior Anna Fauske got the day started on a high note for UCCS in the women's 5,000m race as she cruised to a first-place finish in the 16-person field with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 16:15.34. Saturday's competition marked the first indoor 5,000m race of Fauske's collegiate career, and she made the most of the opportunity as she shattered a nearly 20-year-old school record in the event by more than 40 seconds. The previous record of 16:58.88 was established in 2006 by Shannon Payne.
  • In the women's mile, redshirt senior Kate Hedlund raced to tenth-place finish in the 60-person field with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 4:40.53. Competing in the mile for the first time this indoor season, Hedlund's personal best mark broke her own UCCS school record in the event by nearly six full seconds.
  • Redshirt junior Jagger Zlotoff added another school record performance in the men's mile, where he clocked a personal best and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 4:00.62 to claim 25th place among the 87-person competition. With his strong showing today, Zlotoff recorded the fastest mile time in men's indoor program history, breaking his former teammate Evan Graff's previous record (4:05.08) by nearly five seconds.
  • Redshirt junior Joseph Hamilton raced to a season and personal best time of 1:53.29 in the men's 800m to finish 38th out of 71 runners in the competition. Hamilton's time was less than one second off the NCAA provisional qualifying threshold in the event, which is set at 1:52.31 this season.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • In addition to the school records in the men's mile, women's mile, and women's 5,000m, Hamilton also moved into the top five all-time in the UCCS indoor record book for the men's 800m as he clocked the fourth-fastest time in program history.
  • Fauske now holds NCAA provisional qualifying times in three separate events this indoor season including the women's mile, 3,000m, and 5,000m.
  • Hedlund and Zlotoff have also recorded multiple provisional qualifying marks throughout the course of the indoor season with Hedlund provisionally qualifying in the women's 800m and mile and Zlotoff meeting the threshold in the men's mile and distance medley relay.
