COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced their respective 2025 All-South Central Region Volleyball teams on Wednesday. University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore
Payton Tompkins was named to the AVCA First Team, with
Nicole Martin earning D2CCCA Second Team honors.
The South Central Region encompasses institutions from the Lone Star Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Head coaches from each of the region's schools nominated and voted for the AVCA All-South Central Team, while the D2CCA all-region teams were determined by the sports information directors.
Earning the AVCA South Central Region Player of the Year nod was Angelo State University's Madi Parrish. Karyna Werley and Jenny Glenn of Metropolitan State University Denver were selected as the AVCA Freshman and Coach of the Year, respectively.
Individual awards for D2CCA went to ASU's Parrish, who was named the South Central Region Player of the Year and the Outside Hitter of the Year, while MSU Denver's Alyssa Boyte earned Middle Blocker/Hitter of the Year honors. Lubbock Christian's Camdyn Sears was selected as Setter of the Year, and St. Mary's Alyssa Koehl received Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year recognition.
Receiving All-RMAC First Team and Academic All-RMAC First Team honors this season,
Payton Tompkins (Dallas, Texas) ranks in the top 10 in the South Central Region in points per set (sixth, 4.02) and kills per set (seventh, 3.53), and is just outside the top 10 in attacks per set (12
th, 9.5). An outside hitter, she is one of three Mountain Lions to have started all 29 matches this season, and has put down at least 10 kills in 22 matches. In her sophomore campaign at UCCS, Tompkins set several career highs earlier this season, including 25 kills against Colorado Christian University on Oct. 25, before attempting a career high 61 attacks at Fort Lewis College two weeks later. She started the month of October, blocking a career-high five attempts in a sweep against Regis University.

Nicole Martin is in her first year with the Mountain Lion program after spending her first two collegiate seasons at Colorado Mesa University. The 6-foot-2 middle blocker leads the RMAC in service aces, locking down 46 aces in 104 sets for a .44 average. She is also one of the top defensive individual players at the net, ranking seventh in blocks (0.96 per set). Named to the 2025 All-RMAC First Team and the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season, Martin started all 29 matches for the Mountain Lions and competed in all 104 sets. She served up a career-high six aces in a three-set win over Cal Poly Humboldt on Sept. 5, before blocking a career-high eight attempts against her former team in a five-set win on Sept. 27 at CMU.
UCCS earned the No. 2 seed in the NCAA South Central Regional tournament and will meet No. 7 seed Colorado School of Mines in Thursday's quarterfinal round at 11 a.m. on the campus of MSU Denver.
