COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After earning two wins this past weekend in Durango, Colo., University of Colorado Colorado Springs junior Nicole Martin and redshirt-senior Maylen Mitrovich have garnered Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.  Martin is earning her second RMAC Defensive Player of the Week accolade this fall (Sept. 29) as Mitrovich is collecting her first RMAC Setter of the Week award at UCCS.

Competing in the RMAC Power Pod this past week, hosted by Fort Lewis College, the Mountain Lions claimed a sweep over the Skyhawks Thursday evening, before taking down Colorado School of Mines in four sets on Friday.  Because both matches are part of the RMAC Power Pod, the results do not count toward RMAC standings.

In the sweep over FLC on Thursday, Martin blocked four attacks by the Skyhawks and added in seven kills as part of her 10.5 points.  The next day against Mines, the Colorado Springs, Colo. native recorded six blocks in the four-set win.  Three of her seven blocks in the Power Pod were solo stops, as she finished the pod averaging 1.43 blocks per set to go with her 15 kills and 22.5 points.  Martin currently leads the league in service aces per set (.53) and is third in blocks per set (1.06).

Serving as the sole setter for the Mountain Lions in both matches, Mitrovich averaged a solid 9.1 assists per set as UCCS hit .212 at the net and averaged 12.7 kills per set.  She set a new season high Thursday evening with 32 assists against the Skyhawks, and chipped in two kills and 14 digs.  The following day against the Orediggers, she matched her season high with another 32-assist performance, while putting down three kills and digging up 11 attacks.  Playing primarily in a 6-2 offense, Mitrovich is 11th in the league in assists per set (5.5) and seventh in aces per set (.35).

UCCS enters the final four matches of the regular season owning a 20-2 overall record and is tied for first place in the RMAC standings with Metropolitan State University of Denver with a 9-1 RMAC mark.  The Mountain Lions return to RMAC action this weekend when they travel to Western Colorado University on Friday for a 6 p.m. match, before facing FLC again in Durango on Saturday at 4 p.m.
