COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team defeated Adams State University 3-0 as they won their third straight match Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UCCS threatened early, putting two shots on goal in the first eight minutes, but two saves, including an incredible dive by ASU senior goalkeeper Ashlyn Bartley kept the game knotted.
- The Mountain Lions continued their offensive barrage on the Grizzlies through the first 30 minutes, recording a total of eight shots, with four on goal.
- Adams State got its first shot of the game in the 34th minute after a UCCS turnover set up an open shot that sailed wide right and high.
- Abby Stassi broke the tie with her first goal less than a minute later as she got the ball off a Grizzly turnover and rocketed it past Bartley.
- Adams State threatened at the end of the first half, having two corner kicks in the final 40 seconds, but time expired before they could capitalize.
- Stassi netted her second goal of the game in the 62nd minute, running past the defense, receiving Elise Broberg's pass and putting the ball past the diving Ashyln Bartley.
- Stassi then secured the hat trick two minutes later with a penalty kick after Yarelis Dedos-Pino received a red card for denying a goalscoring opportunity using her hands.
- Emily Aguilar pushed the UCCS lead to 4-0 in the 78th minute, scoring her fifth goal of the season on her senior day.
- The Mountain Lions controlled possession throughout the entirety of the game, but especially in the final 20 minutes as they secured the 4-0 victory.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- UCCS outshot ASU 22 to two, and put 11 shots on net while holding the Grizzlies to zero. UCCS also controlled possession for 73 percent of the game.
- Abby Stassi's three goals today marked her first career hat trick, and pushed her season total to 14, which is good for the third most in the nation.
- Emily Aguilar's goal in the 78th minute marked her fifth goal this season and 18th of her four-year career at UCCS.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With today's victory the Mountain Lions have won nine straight matches against Adams State.
- Abby Stassi's 14 goals this season is the second most in program history, trailing just Anna Gregg's 2018 season in which she scored 15. Stassi also reached 31 points on the season, tying Tarah Patterson in 2021 for third most in program history, and becoming the first sophomore to reach 30 points in a season.
- Elise Broberg's assist in the 62nd minute was her seventh of the season, which is good for 10th in the nation for assists.
- Emily Aguilar capped off her career at Mountain Lion Stadium with her 78th-minute goal. She has tallied 12 career goals at her home stadium.
