All-Time Series: Friday afternoon's matchup against the Yellow Jackets was the 10th in UCCS program history. The Mountain Lions are now 10-0-0 versus Black Hills State and remain undefeated in the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UCCS gained one of their first scoring opportunities after Abby Stassi slipped a through-ball in between two BHSU defenders towards Brooke Pavlich, who went on to throw a scissor move inside the 18-yard-box and rip a shot towards the goal. The ball went just wide of the net, and the match continued on as a 0-0 draw.
  • In the 25th minute, Taylynn Levi found herself unmarked inside BHSU defensive territory and blasted a shot towards the top right corner of the goal, but was unable to score after an unbelievable diving save from the yellow jacket's goalkeeper.
  • A minute later, UCCS was able to get a goal ahead by drawing a foul in the yellow jacket's box. Taylynn Levi went on to take the penalty kick and buried the ball past BHSU's goalkeeper, despite making the correct guess on which side to dive towards.
  • Elise Broberg took a stunning corner kick, directing the ball towards Emily Aguilar at the top of the box. Aguilar faked out a BHSU defender and took a touch towards her left side, ripping a shot towards the lower left corner of the net just past the yellow jacket goalkeeper. The Mountain Lions led by two goals going into the 30th minute.
  • The yellow jackets were able to log their first offensive play of the second half after a BHSU defender played a perfect ball into UCCS defensive territory, connecting with Aubri Roth who went on to cross the ball on the ground, but was intercepted by Nylah Mirshafiei
  • A smooth give-and-go from Abby Stassi to Luka Johnson in the 66th minute allowed the Mountain Lions to gain another scoring advantage, but Johnson's powerful shot was not enough to get behind BHSU goalkeeper Rian Barthel's hands.
  • After drawing a foul on the left side of the pitch, Casey Tadlock blasted a shot towards the yellow jacket's goal and scored off a deflection from a BHSU defender, giving the Mountain Lions a 3-0 lead with 19 minutes left in the match.
  • Taylynn Levi was able to win the ball from a yellow jacket midfielder and pass it off to Abby Stassi, who went on to score with a back post shot and put UCCS four goals ahead of the yellow jackets.
  • Reacting quickly, BHSU scored just seconds later off a 30-yard shot from Kayla Truong, finishing the match off with a 4-1 score.
