COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior
Anna Fauske set a new 5k course record Saturday morning in the 17
th annual UCCS Rust Buster meet, held at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs, Colo. Fauske's first place finish also led University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's cross country team to win in the seven-team meet.

AROUND THE COURSE
- Fauske crossed the finish line in 17:09.0, eclipsing the previous record set by Layla Almasri in 2022 by 15 seconds (17:26.8).
- A trio of Mountain Lions finished fourth, fifth and sixth place to add 12 points to the team total. Kseniya Nikanorov finished fourth overall in 17:57.0, followed closely by Madison Brosig (18:11.3) and Rachel Goodrich (18:13.2).
- Another pack of seven Mountain Lions finished within 10 spots and 27 seconds of each other as Molly Breuer secured the fifth and final scoring position with a time of 18:28.3 (11th overall).
RACE LEADERS
- Fauske, who led all 75 runners, won the race by 37 seconds ahead of runner-up Reese Landis.
- UCCS accounted for 23 points to win the team title. Colorado College came in second overall with 44 points, followed by MSU Denver in third place with 73 points and New Mexico Highlands University in fourth place with 143 points. Regis University and Western New Mexico University each notched 144 team points as Northern New Mexico College rounded out the seven-team race with 215 points.

- The Mountain Lions will head to MSU Denver for the Roadrunners Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21. The women's 6k race will begin at 8:30 a.m.
