HOW IT HAPPENED

- Despite the Mountain Lions offensive pressure, it was the Mountaineers that struck first in the 27th minute. A WCU corner kick allowed a set piece into the UCCS box, which Malia Ramdhanny headed into the top left corner of the frame, to give the Mountaineers the early 1-0 lead.
- The Mountain Lions continued to march down the field and didn't let up after the strike, firing eight more shots on net before the break, but was unable to convert on any of their chances, as they went to the room down 1-0.
- The Mountain Lions broke through when Amelia McManus scored her first goal as a Mountain Lion. Just 12 minutes into the second frame, McManus received a pass from Gracie Brown deep in the Mountaineers penalty area and fired it off a defender and into the net. With just over 30 minutes to play, UCCS pulled even at a goal apiece.
- The rest of the second half was quiet until the 19th minute when Ellie Kubena fired a free kick from 40 yards out that crossed up Izzy Lalouette in net for UCCS, giving WCU the 2-1 win to open their RMAC season.
