COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
Xavier Martinez of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team has been named and All-Conference Honorable Mention, the league office announced Wednesday.
Freshman Point Guard
Xavier Martinez, who led the Mountain Lion men this season in points, assists, and steals, was the lone Mountain Lion recognized as part of the All-Conference honors this afternoon. Making an immediate impact in his freshman season, Martinez started all but one game this year, and was one of just three players to play in all 28 contests. Setting the freshman record for assists, Martinez closes the year with 115 helpers, smashing the previous mark of 75.
UCCS men's basketball finished the year with a 12-16 record, missing the conference tournament for the second straight season. Though, with promising young talent like Martinez paired with experienced upperclassman set to return, UCCS looks to return to contention in the fall.
