COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In the final meet of the regular season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's cross country had nine competitors run Friday morning in the UCCS XC Open, held at Monument Valley Park.

AROUND THE COURSE
- Three Mountain Lions finished in the top 25 of the 106-runner race. Madison Chavez set a personal best 6k time of 22:45.1 to lead the Mountain Lions and finish 15th overall.
- Just one-tenth of a second off from matching her career best, Maddie Ruszkiewicz placed 19th overall in 22:57.8.
- Also running to a new PR time and placing in the top 25 was Brooke Moss who cleared the chute in 23:00.2 to finish 22nd.
- Abby Bartel (23:24.6) and Megan Ericksen (23.43.0) finished within 10 places of each other to round out the top five Mountain Lions. Bartel notched a 29th place finish with Erickson coming in 39th overall.
RACE LEADERS
- Hannah Hartell from Fort Lewis College finished first among 106 runners, notching a time of 21:07.4.
BEYOND THE FINISH LINE
- Olivia Sargent and Kaley Fergus both recorded new 6k personal best times on Friday. Sargent's time of 23:52.3 placed her 43rd overall as Fergus finished 58th in 24:28.5.
UP NEXT
- The Mountain Lions will now turn their attention to the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship meet, hosted by New Mexico Highlands University on the Gene Torres Golf Course in Las Vegas, N.M. The women's 6k race will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 11:35 a.m.
