COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team defeated 15
th ranked Colorado School of Mines Orediggers in their first conference game of the season.

- All-Time Series: This was the 27th matchup between the Mountain Lions and Orediggers with CSM still holding the advantage at 17-8-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The match started back and forth in terms of possession with both teams trading the ball with one another; the first shot of the match came in the 10th minute by the Orediggers. Two minutes later, the Mountain Lions got their first shot of the game up as midfielder Anna Vince lined up a free kick from about 20 yards out. Vince's shot sizzled off her right foot, straight to the top left of net and in result UCCS would take an early 1-0 lead.
- The Mountain Lions kept CSM's attack at bay the rest of the half until the final 10 seconds where the Orediggers got two shots on goal, one hitting the top of the cross bar, then ricocheting to another Mines attacker for the second shot, but it was blocked by UCCS forward Sela Freeman.
- CSM's pressure remained persistent to start the second half as the Orediggers got six straight shots off without UCCS responding. The Mountain Lions defense held strong keeping Mines scoreless.
- UCCS took back control as their offense applied their own pressure. This attack was capped off in the 76th minute as Abby Barhydt dribbled down the right side of the field into the penalty box, centering the ball to Sydney Lasater as she sent a soaring shot up and over the goalkeeper putting the Mountain Lions up 2-0 late in the match.
- UCCS didn't give them any chance of coming back as they held onto their lead, beating the 15th ranked team in the country 2-0 to begin the conference schedule.
GAME STATISTICS
- Vince's 12th minute goal was her first on the season.
- Lasater's goal in the 76th minute was her second of the season and Barhydt's assist was her second of the year.
- Even with the victory, the Orediggers outshot the Mountain Lions 12-8 and had more shots on goal (4-3).
- UCCS had more saves (4-1) and more corner kicks (3-2) then Mines.
- Four Mountain Lions played the full 90 tonight, those being Jade Kinsey, Barhydt, Nanea Wong Yuen, and Makayla Merlo.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- After a slow start to the season, the Mountain Lions have picked it up and are 3-0-1 in their last four matches.
- In their last five matches against Mines, the Mountain Lions are 3-1-1 dating back to November 10th, 2021.
