LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team received academic recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Tuesday afternoon, earning an academic team award and having 16 student-athletes named to the EASTON/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete list for the 2022-23 season.
The UCCS softball program posted a 3.628 cumulative GPA for the 2022-23 academic year, which ranked 26th overall among 99 teams that were honored from NCAA Division II. The Mountain Lions were one of four teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference to be honored with a team award, with Regis University (3rd), Colorado School of Mines (14th), and Colorado Mesa University (T40th) also earning the accolade.
The Mountain Lions also had 16 student-athletes earn recognition on the 2022-23 EASTON/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete list. Nearly 8,300 student-athletes across the collegiate ranks achieved Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete status for the past academic year. Student-athletes who attained a 3.5 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale during the 2022-23 academic year were recognized as NFCA Scholar-Athletes.
