GOLDEN, Colo. – In their final action prior to the end of the qualifying period for the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field team posted a total of four NCAA provisional qualifying marks, including three that registered as improvements on previous marks, on day two of the Mines Last Chance in Golden, Colo.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following a strong first day of action in the women's heptathlon yesterday, redshirt junior Faith Novess was back at it on Sunday afternoon as she began her day with a leap of 5.06m in the long jump that was good for 576 points added to her total. The DeBeque, Colo., native then went on to post a more than eight-meter personal best in the javelin throw with a toss of 36.93m for 608 points before closing the multi event with a time of 2:38.34 in the 800m for 592 points. Novess' final point total of 4,773 points registers as an improvement on her existing NCAA qualifying mark in the event and ranks No. 2 all-time in UCCS outdoor program history.
- In the women's 1500m, sophomore Anna Fauske notched a slight improvement over her season-best mark with an altitude-converted time of 4:25.57 that was good for third place overall.
- Redshirt junior Anna Holland also made a small improvement on her season best mark in the women's hammer throw as she posted a national qualifying throw of 53.14m to finish first in the competition.
- The fourth and final provisional mark of the afternoon came at the men's high jump, where redshirt junior Skye Ciccarelli tied for the top mark in the field by clearing a bar height of 2.07m. His mark sits just shy of his season-best of 2.10m that entered the day tied for 22nd overall in the nation.
- Novess continued her busy weekend in the women's high jump, posting a mark of 1.61m to finish in a tie for second place in the field.
- Redshirt junior Dillon Andrews was the lone competitor in the men's 400m hurdles as he crossed the line in 53.89s.
- UCCS had a pair of student-athletes racing in the men's 800m with sophomore Joseph Hamilton crossing the line eighth overall with a time of 1:56.40 and freshman Alex Herman posting a personal best time of 1:58.01 to take ninth place.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- Novess' personal best mark of 36.93m in the javelin throw ranks No. 5 all-time in UCCS program history for the event.

- The qualifying field for the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be announced at approximately 4 p.m. (MT) on Tuesday, May 16. The national championship meet is set to take place at a familiar venue as RMAC foe Colorado State University Pueblo will host the three-day event at the CSUP ThunderBowl on May 25-27.
