HOW IT HAPPENED
- Three of the Mountain Lions provisional marks on Sunday came in the men's long jump competition, with redshirt junior Peyton Turnage, sophomore Daryon Wilson, and redshirt junior Peterson Bohannon each meeting the national qualifying threshold for the event. Turnage led the way for UCCS with a first-place finish and a season best mark of 7.45m, while Wilson took second place with a season best mark of his own at 7.43m. Bohannon was the third best finisher in the nine-person field, although he came up just shy of his season best mark at 7.27m.
- Redshirt junior Sawyer Christopher added his first NCAA qualifying mark of the season in the men's javelin throw, tossing to a season-best mark of 60.73m. Sophomore Joseph Hamilton also put forth a season-best performance, finishing fourth overall with a throw of 53.64m.
- UCCS tallied two more provisional marks in the men's and women's 4x100m relay races, however both relay teams came up just shy of their season best national qualifying marks for the event. On the women's side, it was Audrey Bloomquist, Keyanda Bolton, Brittany Fuchs, and Victoria Farinas handing the baton off to each other to complete the race in first place with an altitude-converted time of 46.34s. The men's relay team of Justice Mendoza, Kymani Sterling, Michael Nichols, and Brian Mosley Jr. also notched a first-place finish in their race, clocking a converted time of 40.76s.
- Mosley Jr. would come back later in the day to record another national qualifying mark in the open 100m dash, registering a third-place finish in the race with an altitude-converted time of 10.50s that sits just shy of his season best time.
- Redshirt senior Dakota Abbott rounded out Sunday's provisional marks in the men's triple jump, where he leaped to a mark of 15.18m to take first place in a light four-person field. His mark sits shy of his national fourth ranked mark of 15.62m that he established on March 31.
- In the throws events, freshman Kyle Demos had himself a strong day as he posted personal best marks in the men's shot put and discus throw. He started his day with a mark of 48.00m in the discus throw to claim eighth place in the event before notching a sixth-place finish in the shot put at an outdoor best mark of 14.16m.
