DENVER, Colo. – Facing the second ranked team in Division II, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team fell to Regis University Friday evening in Denver, Colo., 15-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was the Mountain Lions who struck first in Friday night's competition, as Erica Rivera found the back of the net following back to back stops in the defensive zone. With 1:23 left in the first period, the Rangers finally found a gap in the UCCS defense, scoring their first goal of the game.
- Regis controlled the possession early in the second period, resulting in constant pressure on the UCCS defense. Goals from two separate Rangers forced a UCCS timeout with nine minutes to go in the first half. Following a Madison McGriff save, the Mountain Lions were back on the attack, working the ball around until Brielle Fannin found Julia Patrick for her 15th goal of the season.
- The Rangers opened up the second half on a tear, scoring six goals over a five minute span, expanding their lead to 11-2.
- UCCS would not go away without a fight. Following a Regis penalty, Patrick converted a free position goal, good for her second of the game. With the score sitting a 12-3 in the early stages of the fourth period, UCCS went on a 4-0 scoring run, seeing goals from Rivera, Ava Goodnature, Fannin, and Sydnee-Anne Moeller.
- Regis would go on to score three straight goals, securing their first conference win by a score of 15-7 over UCCS.
GAME STATISTICS
- Rivera and Patrick each scored two goals on the night, accounting for nine shots and seven shots on goal between the both of them.
- UCCS recorded three assists against Regis with Patrick, Fanin, and Allie Schell each registering one.
- Madison McGriff played all 60 minutes in goal, making 11 saves and earning a .423 save percentage.
- Rivera, Patrick, and Fannin each controlled three draws. Four different Mountain Lions picked up two groundballs on the night.
- Regis' attack was extremely balanced, as the Rangers saw 11 different players record a goal.
- The Mountain Lions were outshot, 36-17 (26-14 shots on goal). Regis won 15 of the 26 draws and picked up 20 ground balls.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Patrick extends her goal streak to six games, recording seven goals in the last two games.
- McGriff has recorded double-digit saves in all seven games this season, totaling 85 for the season.
