HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The matchup got off to a slow start with the Mountain Lions controlling the run of play and bombarding the Cowgirls net with a staggering ten shots, before they finally struck paydirt on their eleventh at the 35:13 mark.
  • With just under ten minutes to play before the intermission, redshirt junior Kelsey Takahashi wasn't going to allow the game tied when she received a beautifully centered ball from Jadyn LeDoux, tucking it inside the right post for the score.
  • UCCS would continue the forward pressure registering five more shots before the halftime whistle, but none would find the twine, with the Mountain Lions taking their one goal lead into halftime.
  • The second half was more of the same story, but UCCS only needed just over two minutes to double their lead, with freshman forward Sela Freeman netting the opportunity off a pass from Hazel Wright.
  • The offensive harassment from UCCS didn't yield as the game wore on, with UCCS spouting nine more shots in the second half, but once again, only Freeman's chance found its way in, with the game concluding with UCCS grabbing the 2-0 road win.
