COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team handled business Sunday afternoon against Adams State University in a dominant 7-0 victory behind
Peter Chang's hat trick.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sunday afternoon began with the Mountain Lions on the early attack as Kolby Raineri and Alex Andersson each recorded a shot in the first 50 seconds of the game. This would be a sign for things to come as in the 17th minute Jackson Million found Matteo Moreno Madrid who used his body for an attempt on goal which bounced off the Grizzlies goalkeeper finding Miles Seminario who booted it into the lower left inside of the post putting the Mountain Lions up 1-0 early.
- UCCS continued to dominate possession of the ball while the Grizzlies only attempted one shot in the first half. Peter Chang recorded his first goal of the afternoon in the 37th minute with the assists coming from Dani Barajas and Moreno Madrid. Nearly two minutes later, Raineri got a goal of his own as Million assisted him off a free kick. Chang notched his second goal of the half in the 43rd minute as Ben Ashfield set him up with a beautifully placed cross putting the Mountain Lions up 4-0 heading into the break.
- UCCS got to work early out of the half as Barajas found the back of the net after intercepting a pass from the Grizzlies, setting himself up for the goal and giving the Mountain Lions a commanding 5-0 lead. UCCS applied pressure the entirety of the game and would add to their lead yet again in the 66th minute when Raineri found Chang in open space as he sent his third goal of the match into the net.
- The Mountain Lions acquired their seventh and final goal of the match in the 72nd minute after Adams State committed a hand ball violation in the box which gave UCCS a penalty kick. Raineri lined himself up, took the shot and made it with ease putting a stamp on this afternoon's match.
GAME STATISTICS
- The Mountain Lions outshot the Grizzlies 39-2, had more shots on goal (23-1), and more corner kicks (9-0).
- Chang recorded his first three goals of the season in today's match, while Raineri notched his second and third goals on the season and his third assist of the campaign. Seminario's goal was his first on the season and Barajas' was his second on the year.
- Raineri also paced the Mountain Lions with nine total shots and six shots on goal while Barajas and Chang each tallied five total shots. 11 additional players all recorded at least one shot.
- Moreno Madrid and Million both recorded a pair of assists marking their
first assists on the season. Ashfield's assist was his second on the year and Barajas recorded his first assist on the season.
- As a team the Mountain Lions recorded their fourth shutout iof the season with Soren Russell and Declan Domyan each logging 45 scoreless minutes in frame.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- This is the Mountain Lions sixth straight victory over the Grizzlies dating back to October 18th, 2019, tying their longest win streak over ASU.
- The Mountain Lions 39 total shots ranks as the second most in a single game in program history, only trailing the 46 shots that UCCS recorded against Adams State on October 24th, 2010. Their 23 shots on goal ranks as the most ever in a single game in program history.
- With Raineri's big performance today, he becomes the all-time leader with 92 shots on goal in his career. He also moves to fourth all-time in shots with 185, tied for second in assists with 18, and fifth in goals with 24.
- Chang's hat trick is the 18th in program history and the second by a Mountain Lion this season.
- As a team, the Mountain Lions recorded the fourth most points in a single game in program history with 21 and tied for the fourth most goals and assists with seven a piece.
