GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs freshman catcher
Paige White was named to the 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Softball All-Tournament Team, as announced by the league office on Saturday evening.
White started each of the Mountain Lion's three games played during the tournament and recorded a .400 batting average with two home runs and three RBIs.
The outstanding freshman kicked off tournament play on Thursday with a 2-for-3 performance against No. 4 seed Metropolitan State University Denver, including a two-run home run in the seventh inning that brought the Mountain Lions within one run in an eventual 4-3 defeat in the opening round. After UCCS staved off elimination with a tight 2-1 victory over No. 3 seed Regis University on Friday morning, White kept her hot bat rolling against top seeded Colorado Mesa University as she posted another 2-for-3 game and gave the Mountain Lions an early lead with a solo home run in the second inning off RMAC Pitcher of the Year Paige Adair.
In her debut season at the collegiate level, White started 50 games between the catcher and designated player positions and led the team with 44 RBIs. The Surprise, Ariz., native also tied for the team lead with 13 home runs and recorded a stellar .352 batting average.
UCCS softball finishes the 2022 season with a 27-24 overall record and a 24-16 record in conference play. The Mountain Lion's 27 wins was the most in a single season since the program won 28 games in the 2019 season.
