Julia Baroth finished second overall to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team to a runner-up finish at the 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, held in Chandler, Ariz. at the Whirlwind Golf Club. The Mountain Lions, who had three golfers finish in the top five, completed the three-round tournament with an 890 after carding a 294 today (300, 296, 294).

FROM THE TEE
- After leading the field the first two rounds of the tournament, Julia Baroth surrendered her lead today and finished runner-up with a three round score of 214. Baroth carded a 71 and a 69 in the first two rounds before scoring a 74 today. She sank three birdies on the front nine to score a one-under par 35. She finished the tournament with 10 birdies and 36 pars.
- Emily Shimkus shot an even par 72 to wrap up the tournament with a 220, highlighted by an eagle on par 4 hole No. 8. She added three straight birdies on the back nine to even out her score. She had a span today between holes No. 8-15 where she shot four-under par.
- Just one stroke behind Shimkus with a fifth-place finish is Dakotah Kreil (220). The senior fired off an impressive six birdies today, four of which came on the back nine where she shot a one-under par 35 to finish the day with a 73.
- Recording a top-20 finish with a three-round total of 235 was Samantha Saile. Her 75 today was her lowest round of the tournament that featured 13 pars.
- Jordyn Allen started the final round with a birdie on hole No. 1 and wrapped up the tournament with a 36th place finish. Competing in her first RMAC championship tournament, Allen carded an 81 today to post a final score 244.
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
- Colorado Christian University took home the team and individual titles today. CCU won the 12-team tournament by eight strokes over UCCS (882). The Cougars' Faith Kilgore jumped Baroth in the final standings, winning the individual title by one stroke (213) after today's tournament-best round of 68 (four-under par).
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
- The Mountain Lions recorded their second straight sub-300 round in program history and their lowest round of the season. Today's round of 294 is the third lowest behind a 290 (March 25, 2018) and 293 (April 22, 2018), and bettered yesterday's round of 296.
- The Mountain Lions 890 is the lowest score of any RMAC Tournament by UCCS since the tournament expanded to three rounds in 2017-18.
- UCCS led the 12-team field in Par 3 scoring (3.02), par 4 scoring (4.23) and birdies (38) and finished fourth in most pars (154).
- Kreil, Shimkus and Saile tied for second for the best Par 3 scoring average (2.92).
- Baroth was second overall in Par 4 scoring (3.93) and third in pars (36). She and Kreil tied for third place for most birdies (10).
- Shimkus was one of five golfers to shoot an eagle.
- Baroth (214), Kreil (221) and Shimkus (220) each recorded their best career RMAC tournament score this week.

- The NCAA Division II Women's Golf selections will be announced on Monday, April 25. The 2021-22 West Regional Tournament will be held May 2-4 at the Brookside Country Club in Stockton, Calif.
