4/12/2022 3:06:00 PM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Both women's lacrosse matches between the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Adams State University have been cancelled and forfeited by Adams State, announced this afternoon.  The Grizzlies are discontinuing their women's lacrosse program in 2022-23 and have announced the cancellation of their remaining 2022 schedule.

The Mountain Lions postponed contest from last Friday at Adams State University, and next Friday's home match against the Grizzlies are officially regarded as no-contests and recorded as forfeits that go toward the Mountain Lions record as 6-0 wins.

"We are sorry to learn of Adams State's decision to discontinue their program, but we recognize their circumstance and appreciate their communication throughout the process," said RMAC Commissioner Chris Graham. "I am confident that our current six sponsoring institutions will continue to thrive and that opportunities may be available in the future to add more women's lacrosse programs to the RMAC."

The Mountain Lions have five regular season scheduled games for 2022, including today's road match against No. 6 Regis University.  The Mountain Lions will play their final home game of the regular season next Sunday, April 24 against Fort Lewis College at 1 p.m.
