LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – After recording the lowest round of the day by any team (309), the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team opened their spring season with a team win Tuesday afternoon. The Mountain Lions captured the 12-team Southwest Minnesota State University Spring Invitational title, held at Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz. UCCS shaved off 15 strokes from Monday's opening round to finish the tournament with a 633 (324, 309).

FROM THE TEE
- All five Mountain Lions either improved their score and place or repeated yesterday's performance.
- Dakotah Kreil and Jordyn Allen stayed attached in their score as they both finished fourth overall after shooting a 75 today, an improvement of six strokes and 10 places from yesterday's finish. The two combined to cut off 12 of the Mountain Lions 15 strokes for a two-day total of 156 (81, 75).
- Kreil started the back nine with a birdie and stayed solid on the final nine holes to finish a plus-one on the back end. After hitting par on nine of her first 10 holes, Allen ended the day on a high note with a birdie on Par 5 hole No. 18.
- Moving up three spots to eighth place was Julia Baroth. Baroth, who finished Monday's round with an 80, took off three strokes to end the tournament with a 157.
- Matching her performance from yesterday's round of 82 was Emily Shimkus, who stayed tied for 18th place with a 164 (82, 82). Finishing fifth for the Mountain Lions and 43rd overall was Olivia Florence who posted a 171 (86, 85).
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
- The Mountain Lions were in a three-way tie for second place heading into today's action before besting the then-tournament leader, University of Nebraska-Kearney, outshooting the Lopers by 18 today. Allycia Gan led all 80 golfers with a seven-over par 149 (76, 73).
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
- Today's team win is the second tournament win this season for the Mountain Lions, who also claimed the CCU Swan Memorial title on Sept. 13-14.
- This is the fourth time in five tournaments that the Mountain Lions finished first or runner-up.
- The Mountain Lions led the field in Pars (tied, 90), Par 3 scoring (3.60) and Par 5 scoring (5.20), and they tied for fourth for most birdies (11).
- Kriel, Allen and Baroth each drained three birdies in the tournament.
- Kreil finished second in Par 3 scoring (3.25), fifth in Par 5 scoring (5.00) and fourth in Pars (20).
- Allen was second overall in Pars (22) and Par 5 scoring (4.90). Baroth's 5.00 Par 5 scoring and 19 pars were the fifth most by an individual.

- UCCS will stick close to home for their next tournament when they head South to Pueblo, Colo. for the Colorado State University Pueblo El Cheapo Classic March 20-21.
