LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – In their first round of the spring season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team is in second place with a 324 (+40) at the Southwest Minnesota State University Spring Invitational, held at Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz. The Mountain Lions are in a three-way tie with Missouri Western State University and Northwest Missouri State University.

FROM THE TEE
- The top four scorers for UCCS finished Monday with a three-stroke spread. Julia Baroth carded an 80 and is tied for 11th place behind 10 pars. Baroth, who hit par on five of her last six holes, also drained a birdie on Par 4 hole No. 11. Her 38 on the back nine was the lowest of any Mountain Lion today.
- Dakotah Kreil and Jordyn Allen share a tie for 14th place as both Mountain Lions carded an 81. Five of Kreil's nine pars on the day came on the front nine where she tallied the lowest score (38) for UCCS in the first nine holes, and where she also sank a birdie on hole No. 4 (Par 3). Allen was the lone Mountain Lion to notch two birdies on Monday as she scored both of them on the back nine on Par 3's hole No. 12 and 17. She started the day hitting par on her first five holes, finishing the front nine with seven pars.
- Bringing in the final score for UCCS was Emily Shimkus who totaled an 82 to place in a tie for 18th place. Shimkus finished the day with eight pars and a birdie on hole No. 14 (Par 4).
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
- Leading the 12-team field is the University of Nebraska-Kearney with a +24 308. The Lopers' Faviola Gonzalez and Paige Lucero are tied for the individual lead after shooting a four-over par 75.
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
- As a team, the Mountain Lions are third in the field in Par 5 scoring (5.24) and pars (45).
- All four UCCS scorers carded at least one birdie.
- Baroth is tied for fourth in Par 4 scoring (4.29) and fifth in pars (10).
- Allen is tied with Baroth in pars (10), and she is fourth in Birdies (two).
